What I try to bear in mind when I read books such as this is that no matter how learned people are, & no matter how high the esteem is in which they are held, opinions are only opinions they are not fact. That said, Susan Sontag will have had first hand experience of some of the people she discusses in the book & it is very important that this is also borne in mind when forming my own opinions.
